Bangladesh Women have begun their Women’s T20 Asia Cup 2026 campaign against Indonesia Women at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Monday, August 31. The Group B contest is attracting significant attention from cricket fans in India and across Asia.
Bangladesh entered the tournament aiming to make a strong start after reaching the semi-finals in the previous edition. Captain Nigar Sultana Joty has set her sights on reaching the final this time, after Bangladesh repeatedly fell short at the semifinal stage.
Indonesia, meanwhile, are making their historic debut in the Women’s Asia Cup. Led by Ni Putu Ayu Nanda Sakarini, the team arrived with confidence after qualifying through the 2026 Women’s Premier Cup.
Indonesia won the toss and elected to bowl first. Bangladesh posted 129 for eight in 20 overs, with Sobhana Mostary making a valuable 40 from 42 balls. Shorna Akter provided a late boost with an unbeaten 31 from just 18 deliveries.
Indonesia’s bowlers responded well, with Ni Ariani and Ni Luh Dewi taking three wickets each. Bangladesh will now rely on its bowling attack to defend the total.
The match marks the first international meeting between the two sides and is an important moment for Indonesia’s debut Asia Cup campaign.
