ISRO Achieves Major Space Technology Milestone
The Indian Space Research Organisation successfully launched the EOS-05 Earth-observation satellite aboard the GSLV-F17 rocket on September 4. ISRO confirmed that the mission placed EOS-05 into its intended orbit, marking an important achievement for India’s space programme.
EOS-05 is India’s first dedicated imaging satellite designed for geosynchronous orbit. From approximately 36,000 kilometres above Earth, the satellite is expected to provide frequent observations that can support agriculture, disaster management, forestry and other applications.
