  • Indian Crypto Users Face New Transfer Checks

Binance, one of the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchanges, has introduced additional information requirements for users in India carrying out crypto deposits and withdrawals. The changes, which took effect on June 22, 2026, are part of the exchange’s efforts to strengthen transaction monitoring and comply with regulatory requirements.

Under the revised system, Indian users transferring crypto into Binance from another exchange or a self-hosted wallet may need to provide information about the sender. This can include the originator’s name, PAN or national identification details, country of residence, address and PIN code.

Withdrawals also require additional information. Users sending crypto to another exchange or a self-hosted wallet may be asked to provide beneficiary details, including the person’s name, location and information about the receiving exchange.

  • Greater Transaction Traceability

The updated requirements reflect the growing focus on tracking cross-border cryptocurrency transfers. Unlike traditional bank transfers, crypto assets can move between exchanges and private wallets across different countries. Indian authorities have been paying closer attention to these flows because of concerns surrounding money trails, foreign-exchange rules and taxation.

Binance has described the changes as part of its existing Travel Rule compliance framework. The exchange says collecting originator and beneficiary information helps with transaction monitoring, risk assessment and anti-money-laundering controls.

The new requirements do not prevent Indian users from trading cryptocurrencies on Binance. Instead, they primarily affect deposits and withdrawals involving external wallets and other crypto platforms.

  • India Remains a Major Crypto Market

The changes come as Indian regulators continue discussions about the future of virtual digital assets. In May 2026, India’s Parliamentary Standing Committee on Finance met representatives from Binance, WazirX and Zebpay to discuss cryptocurrency regulation, taxation and consumer protection.

For Indian crypto investors, the latest Binance update highlights the importance of keeping accurate transaction records and verifying transfer details before moving digital assets.
