The five-day domestic first-class contest begins on September 6 and is scheduled to continue until September 10, with both teams aiming to finish India’s domestic red-ball season opener with the prestigious trophy.

East Zone Enter Final With Confidence

East Zone booked their place in the final after defeating defending champions Central Zone by four wickets in a closely fought semifinal. After both teams scored 266 in their first innings, East Zone’s bowlers produced a strong second-innings performance, dismissing Central Zone for 158.

Mohammed Shami and Mukesh Kumar played important roles with the ball, sharing seven wickets between them. East Zone then successfully chased the target of 159, with captain Ishan Kishan remaining unbeaten on 39. Young batter Vaibhav Sooryavanshi also contributed a quick 40 during the chase.

South Zone will enter the final without KL Rahul, who is unavailable for the title clash. However, the team still has considerable batting and bowling strength, including Tilak Varma, Devdutt Padikkal and Mohammed Siraj.

Key Players in Focus

The final has attracted considerable attention because several players involved are also connected with India’s upcoming international commitments. Ishan Kishan, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Tilak Varma have been cleared to feature in the domestic final.

Sooryavanshi, in particular, will be one of the players to watch. The teenage batter has emerged as one of Indian cricket’s most discussed young talents and will look to make another strong contribution in the longer format.
