India and Uzbekistan have taken an important step toward strengthening their long-term relationship, with both countries agreeing to elevate their ties to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. The development came during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Tashkent, where he met Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
The two leaders discussed cooperation in several important areas, including trade, investment, connectivity, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, education and critical minerals. A long-term uranium supply framework was also highlighted as an important part of the expanding partnership.
The agreement is expected to provide fresh opportunities for Indian companies and encourage greater economic engagement between the two countries. Cooperation in sports and cultural exchanges was also discussed, reflecting the broader nature of the relationship.
