Carty was also a member of the West Indies team that won the 2016 ICC Under-19 World Cup. According to Cricket West Indies, he had accumulated 1,374 runs in 32 ODI innings at an average of 46.22 before the current India series.

India vs West Indies Second ODI
The second ODI between India and West Indies is scheduled for September 30, 2026, at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. The match is part of the three-match ODI series, with the third game scheduled for October 3 in New Chandigarh.
India entered the second match with a 1-0 series advantage following its victory in Thiruvananthapuram. India captain Shubman Gill won the toss in Guwahati and elected to field first. Auqib Nabi was handed his ODI debut, replacing Nitish Kumar Reddy.
For West Indies, Carty remains part of the batting lineup as the visitors look to respond after the first-match defeat.
Carty’s Recent ODI Form
Carty’s performance in the first ODI came after a productive period in West Indies cricket. In July 2026, he scored 95 against New Zealand in an ODI, narrowly missing a fifth century. He shared a 131-run partnership with Shai Hope as West Indies won that match by seven wickets.
That innings demonstrated Carty’s ability to make significant contributions in the middle order. His experience will be important for West Indies as the team continues its preparation for international limited-overs cricket.
2027 World Cup Qualification Context
The current India-West Indies ODI series also has significance in the qualification cycle for the 2027 Men’s Cricket World Cup. Cricket West Indies said the first two matches of the series mark the end of the current qualification cycle for automatic qualification. The West Indies cannot overtake their nearest challengers and will therefore enter the qualification tournament early next year.
This gives the series additional importance for the West Indies squad, including Carty, as the team develops its ODI combination ahead of the next qualification stage and the 2027 World Cup.
What’s Next for Keacy Carty?
After the three-match ODI series, West Indies and India are scheduled to meet in a five-match T20I series beginning October 6. Carty’s inclusion in the ODI squad reflects his continuing role in West Indies’ 50-over plans, while the team’s T20I squad has been selected separately.
