Maharashtra business news today is being dominated by major investment announcements, new industrial projects, data-centre plans, semiconductor manufacturing, renewable energy and infrastructure development. As of October 4, 2026, the state is attracting large domestic and international investments as Mumbai, Pune, Navi Mumbai, Nashik and other regions expand their role in India’s industrial and technology economy.

One of the biggest Maharashtra business news today developments is the signing of 67 Memorandums of Understanding involving proposed investments of approximately ₹8.57 lakh crore.

Semiconductor and Data Centre Investment Gains Momentum

Technology infrastructure is emerging as one of the major components of Maharashtra industry news.

Among the announced proposals, Akshat Greentech has proposed ₹1 lakh crore for data-centre, IT/ITeS and semiconductor projects in Navi Mumbai and Pune. Sterlite Group has proposed ₹84,500 crore for projects in Shahpur and Khalapur, while ReNew has outlined ₹70,000 crore in Khalapur for data-centre and related activities.

Cortex Data Centres has proposed ₹60,990 crore in Navi Mumbai, while Pi-Semicon has earmarked ₹40,000 crore for Nashik. These projects could create thousands of jobs if the proposals progress through approvals and implementation.

Adani Group Plans More Than ₹6 Lakh Crore

Another major development is the Adani Group’s investment plan for Maharashtra. The group has committed more than ₹6 lakh crore across sectors including energy, aviation, aero-districts, urban regeneration, data centres and coal gasification.

The company says projects worth around ₹2.6 lakh crore have already been completed or are under execution in Maharashtra. The group’s activities include major airport infrastructure, electricity, renewable-energy projects and urban redevelopment.

The Navi Mumbai International Airport is among the major infrastructure projects associated with the group’s Maharashtra expansion. The wider investment programme could have implications for aviation, real estate, logistics, hospitality and supporting businesses.

Shyam Metalics Announces Major Steel Investment

The manufacturing sector has also received a significant boost. Shyam Metalics and Energy has signed an agreement involving an investment of more than $5 billion in Maharashtra.

The company plans a greenfield steel complex in Chandrapur with an intended capacity of approximately 9 million metric tonnes per year. The project is expected to generate around 30,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities, subject to required approvals.

The project could strengthen Chandrapur’s position as an important industrial centre and create additional opportunities for suppliers, logistics companies and local businesses.

Maharashtra Targets AI and Innovation Growth

Artificial intelligence is another emerging area in the state’s economic strategy. Maharashtra has been working on attracting investment into AI while developing infrastructure for startups, researchers and technology companies.

Plans presented earlier this year included an ambition to attract around ₹10,000 crore of AI investment and create approximately 1.5 lakh jobs. The state has also discussed establishing AI Centres of Excellence and providing computing resources to startups and researchers.

Mumbai and Pune are expected to remain important centres for AI, software, financial technology and advanced business services.

Mumbai Infrastructure and Urban Development

Infrastructure remains central to Maharashtra’s long-term business expansion. The state’s investment plans increasingly connect airports, urban redevelopment, data centres, industrial corridors and energy infrastructure.

The Dharavi redevelopment project is another major urban-development initiative. Recent plans have highlighted housing, formalisation of micro-enterprises and economic opportunities as important elements of the redevelopment programme.

Such projects could generate business opportunities in construction, housing, retail, logistics, professional services and small enterprises.
