Delhi commuters should prepare for traffic restrictions on September 1 as authorities conduct a motorcade rehearsal for the 18th BRICS Leaders’ Summit 2026. The traffic arrangements are scheduled between 11 am and 3 pm across several important roads in New Delhi.
Several major routes will experience regulated movement, including Sardar Patel Marg, Shanti Path, Kautilya Marg, Janpath, Ashoka Road, Barakhamba Road, Mathura Road and other connecting corridors.
Traffic authorities have identified alternative routes to help motorists avoid affected areas. Roads including Ring Road, NH-48, Vande Mataram Marg, Rao Tula Ram Marg and Africa Avenue Road will provide alternative corridors where applicable.
Commuters have been advised to plan journeys in advance and allow additional travel time. Authorities have also encouraged people travelling through central Delhi to use public transport, particularly the Metro, during the rehearsal period.
Emergency and essential-service vehicles will receive priority passage, while traffic personnel will manage diversions at designated points.
The restrictions are part of preparations for the upcoming BRICS summit and are intended to ensure smooth movement during official motorcade operations.
Residents and visitors travelling through central Delhi are advised to check traffic updates before starting their journeys and follow instructions from traffic personnel.
