The Guyana Amazon Warriors produced a stunning batting performance to defeat the Trinbago Knight Riders by nine runs via the DLS method in a rain-affected Caribbean Premier League 2026 match at Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain.
After rain reduced the contest to 16 overs per side, the Amazon Warriors posted an imposing 185 for five. Shimron Hetmyer was the star of the innings, smashing an unbeaten 111 from just 43 deliveries. His explosive knock included eight fours and nine sixes and matched the CPL record for the fastest century.
The Warriors initially struggled after losing Glenn Phillips and Shai Hope early, but Hetmyer dramatically changed the momentum once play resumed following the rain delay. Romario Shepherd also provided a late boost with a rapid 27 from seven balls.
Chasing a revised target, the Trinbago Knight Riders reached 172 for seven in their 16 overs but fell short of the required total. Joshua Da Silva and other middle-order batters attempted to keep the chase alive, but the Warriors’ bowling attack held firm.
The victory kept Guyana Amazon Warriors unbeaten in the competition and gave them valuable momentum in the CPL playoff race.
