Limerick Drug Seizure and Arrest
One of the main Ireland crime updates today comes from Limerick, where Gardaí seized suspected cocaine with an estimated street value of €275,000, along with more than €9,000 in cash.
The search was carried out at a domestic residence in Limerick city on September 21 by officers from the Limerick Divisional Drugs Unit, supported by local and regional Garda units. A man in his 20s was arrested and detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996. Gardaí said the suspected drugs will be sent to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis and that the investigation remains ongoing.
The seizure was part of ongoing Garda activity targeting the sale and supply of illegal drugs in the Limerick area.
Tallaght Burglary and Car Theft Investigation
Gardaí in Tallaght, Dublin, have also made three arrests as part of an investigation into burglary, car theft and associated criminal activity.
According to Gardaí, officers from the Tallaght Community Engagement and Serious Crime Unit were conducting patrols in the Cloonmore Park area on September 19 when they saw a man leaving a vehicle and attempting to flee. The vehicle had been reported stolen following a recent burglary.
The man, who is in his 40s, was arrested. Two additional men, aged in their 20s and 40s, were also arrested during the operation. Gardaí confirmed that all three were charged with a number of offences and were due to appear before Tallaght District Court.
Major Drug Seizure in Dublin
Another significant recent crime development involved a joint operation in County Dublin.
Gardaí and Revenue Customs Officers seized drugs with an estimated value of €447,000 in the Coolock area. The operation resulted in the seizure of more than 5.5kg of cannabis, estimated at €79,800, followed by a search that uncovered cocaine valued at approximately €368,000.
Drug paraphernalia and around €27,900 in cash were also seized. Two women in their 20s were arrested and detained at Garda stations in north Dublin. Gardaí said investigations were continuing.
Organised Crime Investigation in County Kildare
Ireland’s organised crime landscape is also receiving attention following the discovery of a mobile drug laboratory in County Kildare.
According to reports, Gardaí and Revenue uncovered a makeshift laboratory inside a truck trailer. Authorities seized 74kg of cocaine, 32kg of cannabis and equipment and chemicals associated with cocaine extraction.
The operation was connected to an international investigation targeting major organised crime networks. Gardaí said the discovery demonstrated the continuing international nature of drug trafficking investigations involving Ireland and other countries.
Dublin Robbery and Assault Investigations
Gardaí continue to investigate robbery and assault cases in Dublin. In one recent investigation, officers appealed for witnesses after a woman in her 20s was assaulted and robbed on Alfie Byrne Road in Fairview.
The incident happened during the early morning of September 1. Gardaí appealed particularly to motorists who may have had dashcam footage from the area around the time of the incident.
Witness appeals remain an important part of Garda investigations, particularly where CCTV, dashcam recordings or information from members of the public could help identify suspects.
