India is preparing for another spell of monsoon rainfall as a low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal moves inland. According to the latest India Today report citing the India Meteorological Department, the system is expected to influence weather across several eastern, central and northern parts of the country.

Heavy to very heavy rainfall has been forecast in parts of Gangetic West Bengal and Jharkhand, while Odisha and Chhattisgarh are also expected to receive significant rain. Some areas could experience extremely heavy rainfall, raising concerns about waterlogging and local flooding.

The weather system is expected to move west-northwestwards across parts of Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal. Its influence could continue beyond September 1, with rainfall likely in several central Indian regions during the first week of September.

Northern areas are also expected to remain affected. Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh, Punjab and parts of Uttar Pradesh may experience scattered rainfall through the opening days of September.

The latest forecast indicates that the southwest monsoon is not yet ready to withdraw completely. Authorities and residents in vulnerable areas are being advised to remain alert as heavy rainfall can disrupt transportation, daily activities and local infrastructure.

The renewed rainfall will also be closely watched by farmers and water-management authorities across affected states.
