• Kia Sorento Officially Launched in India
New Delhi: Kia India has officially launched the new Sorento premium three-row SUV in the Indian market, with introductory prices starting at ₹27.99 lakh ex-showroom. The launch marks an important step for Kia as the company expands its presence in India’s premium SUV segment.
• Two Powertrain Options
The India-spec Sorento is available with a 1.6-litre turbo-petrol strong-hybrid and a 2.2-litre diesel engine. The hybrid system combines a 180bhp petrol engine with a 65bhp electric motor and is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. The diesel engine produces 193bhp and 442Nm and comes with an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
• Hybrid and AWD Combination
One of the biggest highlights is the availability of all-wheel drive with the hybrid powertrain. Buyers can choose between front-wheel drive and AWD configurations depending on the variant and powertrain.
• Six-Seater and Seven-Seater Options
Kia is offering the Sorento in both six-seat and seven-seat configurations. The six-seat version features second-row captain chairs, while the seven-seat model uses a conventional bench arrangement.
• Premium Interior Features
The cabin receives a technology-focused layout with dual 12.3-inch displays, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, a 12-speaker Bose audio system, wireless smartphone charging and a head-up display. The SUV is also equipped with connected-car technology and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
• Generative AI Assistant
Kia has introduced its AI Assistant with real-time generative AI capabilities in the Sorento. The system is designed to allow occupants to interact with the vehicle using natural-language voice commands and access information through the connected-car system.
• Advanced Safety Technology
Safety equipment includes multiple airbags, Level 2+ ADAS, automated parking assistance, front and rear dashcams and a digital inside rear-view mirror. The higher variants receive additional premium technology and convenience features.
• Made in India
The Sorento is locally manufactured at Kia’s Anantapur facility in Andhra Pradesh, supporting the company’s strategy of increasing local production for the Indian market.
• Competition in the Premium SUV Segment
The Sorento enters a competitive market that includes SUVs such as the Toyota Fortuner, MG Majestor, Skoda Kodiaq and Volkswagen Tayron. With its hybrid option, three-row layout, AWD capability and technology package, Kia is aiming to offer a strong alternative to established premium SUVs.
