Several murder investigations across India are drawing attention today, including the alleged killing of a woman in Lucknow by her police officer husband and the arrest of a wanted suspect in a transporter murder case in Uttar Pradesh.

Lucknow Police Officer Accused of Killing Wife

A head constable posted in Lucknow has been suspended after allegedly killing his wife during a domestic dispute. Police identified the accused as Himanshu Srivastava and the victim as 40-year-old Rashmi Srivastava.

According to police, an argument took place at the couple’s rented home before the woman was allegedly struck on the head. She suffered serious injuries and died.

The accused was taken into custody after the woman’s relatives contacted police.

Family Raises Domestic Violence Allegations

Rashmi’s relatives have alleged that she had experienced domestic problems for years. They also alleged that the accused had previously faced a domestic-violence case.

Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the death and have not yet established a final motive. The case has also prompted questions about how earlier allegations of domestic violence were handled.

Latest Lucknow developments:

  • The accused head constable has been suspended.
  • Police have taken him into custody.
  • The victim was 40 years old.
  • The couple had a one-year-old child.
  • Police are investigating the circumstances of the death.

Wanted Suspect Arrested in Transporter Murder

In another Uttar Pradesh case, the Special Task Force arrested Jai Kishan Sharma, a wanted suspect in the alleged abduction and murder of transporter Dhirendra Pratap Singh.

Police said Singh disappeared on August 29 and his bullet-riddled body was recovered the following day. Sharma was arrested in Lucknow’s Sushant Golf City area. Police said he had a reward of ₹50,000 announced for information leading to his arrest.

Investigators are examining the alleged conspiracy behind the killing. Police said the plan was allegedly prepared before the crime and involved other associates.

Police Continue Search for Evidence

Investigators in both cases are expected to examine witness statements, forensic evidence and other material to establish the sequence of events.

The cases demonstrate the range of murder investigations currently being handled by Indian law-enforcement agencies, from domestic violence allegations to organised criminal conspiracies.

Delhi Murder Investigations Also Continue

Delhi Police have recently solved two separate murder cases. One involved a 19-year-old factory worker who was allegedly stabbed after a dispute involving a social-media comment. Another involved the killing of a 45-year-old man whose body was discovered in Dwarka.
