The NEET PG 2026 examination was conducted across India on August 30, with more than 2.65 lakh medical graduates appearing for the postgraduate medical entrance test. The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) conducted the examination across 1,111 centres in 339 cities covering all 36 States and Union Territories.
According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, 2,73,096 candidates were scheduled to appear, while 2,65,980 candidates actually attended the examination. The test was completed successfully for approximately 2,63,535 candidates.
Initial reactions from candidates suggest that the paper was moderate to difficult, with several questions requiring practical application of medical knowledge rather than simple memorisation.
Candidates are now waiting for the NEET PG 2026 result. NBEMS has officially indicated that the result will be declared by September 30, 2026, although the exact result date has not yet been announced.
The result will be an important milestone for medical graduates seeking admission to MD, MS and other postgraduate medical programmes. After the result and qualifying process, candidates will move toward the counselling and seat-allocation stage.
Aspirants are advised to regularly check official NBEMS notifications for updates regarding the result, answer key and counselling process.
