Vijay is scheduled to return to Chennai on Thursday morning, September 17, according to a report published on September 16. His return comes as TVK prepares for the upcoming Madurantakam and Dharapuram by-elections.
London Public Meeting Cancelled
A planned public interaction with Vijay in London was cancelled after the Metropolitan Police raised safety concerns. Hundreds of supporters reportedly gathered near The Shard hoping to meet the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister.
Following the cancellation, the TVK’s information-technology wing asked members of the Tamil diaspora and other supporters not to gather outside Vijay’s hotel or wait along his travel routes. The party said the decision was connected to public-safety requirements and directions from London police.
