Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Nirupam has entered the ongoing controversy surrounding comedian Samay Raina and his recent appearance on *India’s Got Latent* Season 2. Nirupam said that comedy should be understood in its proper context, while also making it clear that he did not agree with every remark made during the show.

The controversy began after an exchange between Raina and comedian Sharon Verma involving references to Bihar and the identity of Kashmiri Pandits. Clips from the episode circulated widely online, leading to criticism from several sections of the public and political leaders.

Nirupam said that some comments about Bihar were inappropriate. He also expressed discomfort over remarks connected to the suffering of Kashmiri Pandits, noting the community’s difficult history.

At the same time, the Shiv Sena leader argued that the exchange should primarily be viewed as humour rather than taken literally. He added that obscenity should not be defended in the name of comedy and said action should be considered if such content crosses acceptable limits.
