Cricket fans are following the Scotland Women vs Netherlands Women ODI series closely as the second match takes place in Stirling on August 30. The Netherlands Women started the three-match series strongly by defeating Scotland by 58 runs in the opening game.
The Netherlands’ victory was built around a remarkable century from Phebe Molkenboer. The opener scored 106 runs from 144 balls, including nine boundaries, and played through the entire innings before being run out from the final ball. Her performance helped the Netherlands reach 270 for four in 50 overs.
Scotland’s chase began poorly as they slipped to 59 for three. Pippa Sproul then provided the main resistance with an impressive 79, supported by Megan McColl, who scored 33. However, Scotland continued to lose wickets and were eventually dismissed for 212 after 48.5 overs.
The second ODI at New Williamfield gives Scotland an opportunity to bounce back and keep the series alive. The Netherlands, meanwhile, will be confident after their opening victory and will look to build on their strong batting performance.
The final match of the three-ODI series is scheduled for September 1, making the second game particularly important for Scotland’s hopes of forcing a series decider.
